Why do my parents pressure me to like football?

Okay, so I fcuking hate football. And pretty much sports in general. I'm a big guy and I hit the gym a lot, so growing up I got told I should be a football player. But I didn't because of aforementioned loathing. My parents always tried to get me to watch football in middle through high school. Still hated it. Why do they and everyone else pester me about that freaking boring @ss game?
