Do I ever have to get a girlfriend?

I'm 19. I don't ever want to be in a relationship. I made a mistake when I was younger thinking of how relationships were supposed to be. The reality of a relationship in today's society in my opinion is senseless. So I figure, since I'm in college, I can get my degree, get a great big house, & a great job. Then I won't worry about getting married & having children. I won't be alone all the time. I can make friends. I'll get some pets as well. I'm going to build me a huge gym in my house. I love to work out & I love sports. So I've never had a girlfriend by choice. In high school, I couldn't find any decent girls to go out with. But now I really just don't care anymore. I don't ever want a girlfriend. My question for you is, is this a good idea? As long as I'm happy, I should be able to do what I want, right?
